The beach 2 battleship swim is a point-to-point course that takes place in the atlantic intercoastal waterway in wilmington, north carolina. though it's a saltwater swim, participants should not expect the waves of open water. in 2008, the swim takes place when the tides are changing, which means that participants will be swimming WITH the current, making for potential pr swim splits. the swim is a mass start that begins on the beach. water temperatures are expected to be between 68 and 72 degrees, making this a wetsuit legal race.

run
distance: 26.2 miles
The run takes competitiors on a two loop figure eight course (similar to Ironman arizona), that starts and finishes at the battleship north carolina. while the larger side of the figure eight goes up and down Cape fear lake, the smaller loop has competitors running around the perimeter of the extremely picturesque greenfield lake. it is a fairly flat class, with six bridge crossings on the course (three on each of the 13.1 mile loops). the slight hills are on the bridges. if you've raced the [battleship half marathon] in wilmington, the beach 2 battleship run uses the same exact course.
aid stations are at every mile along the run course, serving food, drinks and energy products (bars, gels, etc.) since there is a contest amongst the aid stations to be the best and most exciting, expect the aid station volunteers to provide a little extra lift than you normally see at such events.
