USAT All-American Triathlete Mary Eggers is going head to head (or, rather, leg to leg) with Craig Alexander in a 50-meter kick-off to benefit Teens Living With Cancer.
On October 15, 2012, Mary and Crowie will jump in the pool each with a kickboard and battle it out for 50 meters. The sole purpose is to support Teens Living With Cancer. We welcome and encourage your donation.
Teens Living With Cancer is part of Melissa's Living Legacy, directed by Lauren Spiker. Ten years ago, Lauren lost her daughter Melissa to a bone marrow malignancy called Myelodysplastic Syndrome (often referred to as the "childhood cancer"). Melissa made her mom promise to make it better for other teens afflicted by the disease. And she has.
Survival rates for this form of cancer are averaging at about twenty percent and all support is needed to help find a cure for this deadly disease. The efforts of Melissa’s Living Legacy Foundation are dedicated to the approximately 15,000 teens undergoing treatment in the United States for cancer each year. Wanting only to be “normal” teens, to spread their wings and fly, they are compelled to follow other paths, other roads less traveled. They do so with courage, with quiet beauty and grace unique to each of them. They deserve the best we can give.
Please support the cause by making a donation.
And we encourage you to read Melissa's story, which can be found by clicking here.
