Fundraising Days Left:

Why We Are Raising Money
Why I Am Raising Money

Hey Family and Friends,

I would like to update you on the progress of my fundraising for the 100 Mile Club and to let you know how my training is going. So far, I have raised $1180 and my goal is $2000, so I am 59% of the way there with 13 days to go. This is where I need your help: Please make a tax deductible donation of any amount!! If you have already donated to my fundraising, thank you so much!

I have been informed that all the money I raise will go directly to “Thomas Edison Elementary School” where Monica teaches. My plan is to be a mentor coach at the school and help reach kids to get them interested in physical activity. Childhood inactivity and obesity is at an all-time high and affects 1 of every 6 kids in the United States. More than 30 percent of children are obese or overweight. This is triple from 1980. Only 8 percent of elementary school students and 6 percent of middle school and high school students have daily PE at school and today budget cuts have minimized or eliminated P.E. altogether.

My training is going good, and I have been very fortunate not to have any injuries but my legs have been feeling pretty fatigued. I have been gradually increasing my distances an have been running a race about every 6 weeks in preparation for the EC 100.

Here is a list of my races:

Run-De-Vous 100 mile on 8/18/12 time 28:30

The Hermosa 24 Hour Ultra Marathon on 6/30/12 55 miles

Fontana Days Half Marathon on 6/2/12 time 1:37

Leona Divide 50 mile trail run on 4/28/12 time 11:18

Hollywood Half Marathon on 4/7/12 time 1:47

La Jolla 30K trail run on 2/26/12 time 3:33

Santa Monica 30K trail run on 11/20/11 time 4:58

St George Marathon on 10/1/11 time 3:52

The 100 Mile Endurance Challenge (100EC) is a point-to-point 100 mile urban ultramarathon which puts 40 of the country’s top endurance athletes together to race the clock. The route for the (100EC) cuts through the heart and hugs the coast of Southern California. I will run through 3 counties and 20 cities. This event starts at the 100 Mile Club headquarters in Corona, CA on Oct. 20, 2012 at 8:30am and finishes some time the next day at the Santa Monica Pier. There is a 30-hour time limit for this course but my GOAL is to do it in under 24 hours "Not sure if it is possible with how my legs have felt lately".

Our kids need to move!!!!!!

Realizing physical activity has a significant impact of the health status of our kids and our community, The 100 Mile Club has created a simple, innovative, sustainable answer to the current health crisis in our youth: daily physical activity in a nonthreatening, supportive, inclusive environment. Our concept is simple and easy to implement. We put a new creative spin on the simple act of walking or running by creating an incentive program that adds excitement while teaching children how to become responsible and accountable for their own success.

Thank you,

Nate
