The mission of Run-Walk Events is to organize world-class running and walking events designed to raise awareness and funds needed to address the inactivity epidemic in young people. The entire board of directors are unpaid volunteers. Run-Walk Events is recognized as a nonprofit organization by the IRS.
This race is organized by Run-Walk Events. All donations are given to Run-Walk Events and at the conclusion of the Race Across the USA, Run-Walk Events will present 100 Mile Club® with a check containing the proceeds of the event.

On January 16, 2015, I will join 11 other runners in a 3,000-ish mile stage race across the USA. We will each cover around 26.2 miles per day, 6 days per week, from Los Angeles to Washington, DC. That means we’ll each run around 120 marathons in 140 days! The race is being held in support of the 100 Mile Club, a 501(c)(3) committed to reducing the prevalence and future incidence of childhood obesity by promoting physical activity among elementary school kids.
In support of that mission, we’ll stop at a number of elementary schools along the way to inspire kids to get up, get out, and get active. We’ll chat, play, and hopefully push them to move a little more and set goals a little bigger than they might have dreamed before.
This is going to be such an incredible experience!
And as exciting as the adventure itself, is the great opportunity for novel and important research. There are very few chances to study human adaptation to significant or extreme stress over extended periods of time. During the Race Across USA, we’ll observe first hand how the runners adapt biologically and culturally to the stresses of running 26.2 miles nearly every day for nearly 5 months. For more information about our research program and the people bringing it to life, you check out these stories:
Your donations will help bring this dream to life and support all the kids the 100 Mile Club reaches every year. A $10 donation supports 1 student for 1 year in the 100 Mile Club. How many kids can you afford to support through your donation to the 100 Mile Club and our Race Across USA?
