The Naples Island Swim is a classic race in Long Beach that was revived in 2007. It consists of a 1 mile race around Treasure Island and a 3-mile race around Naples Island.

Check-in: 7:00am
Registration and Check-in close: 8:30am
1 Mile race starts: 9:00am
3 Mile race start: 9:15am

THE COST OF DOING BUSINESS
Entry fee is $25 if you mail it in before July 21, 2007.
Race day registration fee is $30.
(The first 150 entrants receive a nifty t-shirt and competitors medal)

AGE LIMITS
Both races are open to all swimmers 18 or older by race day. You must have a current registration with United States Masters Swimming (USMS). A copy of your USMS card is required with each entry form. Get ready to show the card on race day - you won't be able to swim without it.

2007 USMS rules will govern these races.

AWARDS
Special custom Naples Island Swim medals will be awarded to the top three competitors in each race, age group and gender. These medals are dynamite! Wetsuits and neoprene caps are allowed, but swimmers wearing them are not eligible for awards. The oldest finishers in each race by gender will receive a Golden recognition medal. A custom T-Shirt (guaranteed not to be another white or blue T-Shirt!) and a Competitor's medal to commemorate this year's event is guaranteed to the first 150 paid entrants.

WATER CONDITIONS
Water temperature for this race ranges between 63-70 degrees in late July. The courses are located entirely within Alamitos Bay (no surf). Wetsuits and neoprene caps are allowed, but swimmers wearing them will not be eligible for awards. 3-Mile swimmers are encouraged to bring paddlers. A course map will be provided at the starting area.

TIME LIMIT
Anyone still in the water at 11:30am will be picked up and returned to the finish area.

USMS Cards
Annual USMS Registration (valid January thru December) are available for $35 and include USMS Swimmer magazine, SPMA Newsletter, and insurance coverage for any USMS sanctioned swimming competition attended during current calendar year. A Single Day/Single Event USMS registration will be available for $20 the day of the race and will include insurance coverage for this event. If you are not a USMS member, this is required for insurance purposes! No Exceptions.

DIRECTIONS
The race takes place at Alamitos Bay. The address is 5437 E. Ocean Blvd, Long Beach, 90803 (Bay Shore and 54th Place between Ocean and 2nd St). Parking is available along Ocean Blvd. There are also parking lots at 54th Place and La Verne Ave at a rate of $.25 for 15 minutes. (Bring quarters!) There is no parking opn Bay Shore or 54th Place after 9am so watch out... they like to tow cars.

After the race head over to Belmont Shore and/or Naples Island in Long Beach. There are lots of restaurants, attractions and activities for the entire family.
