The Silver Sage Sprint (and the longer Silver Sage) is part of the well-regarded Big Blue Adventure Series, organized by Seventh Wave Productions. Designed for finishing times of 2 to 4 hours, the Silver Sage Sprint is a good event for both experienced racers to test their skills as well as new participants to explore the sport of adventure racing.
The race takes place in Reno, Nevada at the same time and place as the Silver Sage, a half-day event. The Silver Sage Sprint features a unique “riverteering” experience through the Truckee River corridor, mountain biking on varied terrain through the High Sierra Desert and an urban adventure Reno style.
The average elevation for the event is 4,500'.
Competition is for teams of two (all men, all women or coed). Team members must stay within 100 meters of each other throughout the competition. Competitors will race over land and water participating in, mountain biking, trail running, inner tubing and some special surprise tests.
INNER TUBING
Competitors will inner tube over 1 mile down the Truckee River
MOUNTAIN BIKING
There is 7 to 10 miles of mountain biking, all on a mix of single track, double track, fire roads and pavement.
SPECIAL TESTS
A variety of fun and challenging special tests are thrown in the mix.
FOOT TRAVEL
About 3 to 5 miles of foot travel on a mix of single track, fire road, sand and pavement.
