The Solvang Prelude is a beautiful, non-competitive ride in Southern California that is organized by the SCOR Cardiac Cyclists Club (hosts to the Solvang Century). The prelude is both a fun end-of-season ride as well as a warm-up to the full Solvang Century in March.
There are three distance options for the Prelude:
* 25 miles
* 50 miles
* 62 miles (Metric Century)
All courses weave through the beautiful vineyards of the Santa Ynez Valley.
Like the Solvang Century, the money raised in the Solvang Prelude is used to benefit heart-related charities, including the SCOR Cardiac Cyclists Club, Camp Del Corazon and Camp Bon Coeur.
The courses range in difficulty with the 25 mile route being relatively easy, a great ride for beginning cyclists. The 50 mile route is moderately difficult while the metric century is a hilly, challenging course. (Note that the 50 mile route is NOT the same as the 50 mile route of the Solvang Century. The Prelude 50 miler travels a different route.)
