The Utah Summer Games is an Olympic-style sports festival for all residents of Utah. athletes of all ages and abilities open to residents of the state of Utah. The games have been in existence since 1984. There are about 7,500 participants every year, in addition to the 50,000 spectators and 1,000 volunteers.

Though the Utah State Games cater to Utah residents, the USG Triathlon is open and welcoming to everybody, regardless of your home. The USG Triathlon is put on by the folks at BBSC Endurance Sports, who also are responsible for such other events as the Land Rover Pumpkinman Triathlon, the SGTri and Rage In The Sage Triathlon .

INTERMEDIATE DISTANCE
Distance: 1.5k swim/ 40k bike/ 10k run

SWIM
Distance: 1.5k

The swim starts on the far south end of the parking lot and ends at the boat ramp. You swim a parallel line between the shore line and the island. You go past the boat dock, swim around 2 more buoys, then turn around and swim into the boat dock.

BIKE
Intermediate Bike Course: 40k

Exit T1 at the South end, ride to the main road and make a LEFT hand turn on the main road. About 3.3 miles down this road you will hit "The Hill". This will last approximately less than a mile and it is about a 6% grade. You will go all the way to the "T" in the road and make a tight RIGHT hand turn. (This is 1100 W). Go ALL the way to where this road dead ends (2.7 miles) and turn around.

Once you are heading back you will pass the street you came in on ( 3000 S or the "T" in the road )
You will stay on 1100 W and will hit a STOP sign. Hang a LEFT at the stop sign and continue for .7miles. This is your turn around.
Continue back and make a RIGHT at mile 16.3 ( this will be marked with signs, chalk and a volunteer to make sure you don't pass it.)
This road will bring you back to the main road, which you will make a RIGHT on, leading you back to the lake.
There will be volunteers and a wide mat at the bottom of "The Hill" going over the cattle guard.
Make a RIGHT hand turn back into the park area and get ready for your run!

There are no water/aid stations on the bike course. Bring your own fuel!

RUN
Intermediate Run Course: 10k

Exit the NORTH end of the transition area and run down the long chute heading you back out of the park. You will make a LEFT hand turn at the main road and will run out 3.1 miles and head back on the same side of the road to the finish. Aid stations will be at every mile out on the course serving HEED, Water and Hammer Gels.


SHORT COURSE
Course Description: .75k swim/ 20k bike/ 5k run

SWIM
Short Swim Course: .75k

The swim starts on the far south end of the parking lot and ends at the boat ramp. You will swim a parallel line between the shore line and the island and exit at the boat dock.

BIKE
Short Bike Course: 20k

Exit T1 at the South end, ride to the main road and make a LEFT hand turn on the main road. (You will have accelerated quite a bit at this point, so please be safe making this tight turn.)
About 3.3 miles down this road you will hit "The Hill". This will last approximately less than a mile and it is about a 6% grade.
Go all the way to your turn around. You will have your own turn around chute in the middle of the road to keep you separated from the long course cyclists. (You cannot miss it)
Make a RIGHT hand turn back into the park area and T2.

RUN
Short Run Course: 5k

Exit the NORTH end of the transition area and run down the long chute heading you back out of the park. You will make a LEFT hand turn at the main road and will run out 1.55 miles and head back on the same road to the finish.

Aid stations will be at every mile out on the course, serving HEED, Water and Hammer Gels for your nutritional pleasure.
